Scotland's transport minister resigned yesterday following criticism of his handling of travel problems caused by the poor weather.
Stewart Stevenson said: "I could have done much more to ensure the public, who were caught up in a difficult and frightening set of circumstances, were better informed." Opposition MSPs had demanded his resignation after snow brought chaotic road and rail conditions. First Minister Alex Salmond said he accepted the resignation "with great regret".
