A cafe claiming to house the UK's smallest cinema has gone on the market.

The Blue Walnut has been a regular haunt for culture vultures in Torquay, Devon, over the past few years.

As well as its 23-seat movie theatre - which packs a punch thanks to Blu-Ray technology and surround sound system, it has also hosted music and poetry evenings.

But the premises are now on the market - and could be snapped up for just £50,000.

Waycotts Charted Surveyors in Torbay, who are handling the offer for the Chelston-based cafe, described it as a "unique sale".

David Jenkins, from the firm, said: "You don't get to use the word unique very often, but the Blue Walnut certainly falls into that category.

"The premises are compact but well arranged.

"It would a perfect buy for a film buff with a love of the arts, poetry and live music, who loves to cater and entertain.

"The Blue Walnut is not only a fully licensed cafe, but is a renowned live music venue that boasts the smallest Cinema in the United Kingdom."

The Blue Walnut is currently one of three UK venues to host the Manhattan Short Film Festival, held every October. Viewers get to watch 10 short films from around the world, voting for the film of their choice.

It has also been popular venue for up and coming Devon bands as well as a stopping off point for touring musicians such as US bluesman Adam Franklin.

Waycotts has priced the cafe on a leasehold basis of £50,000 for the cafe, but said £250,000 could allow a buyer to own the entire property - which also includes a three-bedroom maisonette.
