UK weather: The latest Met Office forecast

As the UK deals with its fourth week of lockdown, temperatures are expected to rise again to highs of 20C before bringing spells of rain closer to the weekend.

After a cold start on Wednesday morning, most of the UK will enjoy looking out their windows to see a bright, sunny day, with a gentle breeze.

According to the Met Office, some areas might see some haze under high cloud. Temperatures will hover between 16C and 18C throughout the rest of the week with the exception of Thursday, when a high of 21C is expected.

Pollen levels have been high since last week as numerous trees began bursting with blossoms around the UK, but will only peak around mid-May when grass and weed pollen begin to be released.

Cloudier conditions are likely to develop in southern Wales and southwest England over the next couple of days, particularly in Northern Scotland where some patchy rain is expected tonight.

Parts of England and Wales will likely see heavy showers over Friday and Saturday, but elsewhere will be dry with sunny spells. Sunday is expected to be a cloudy but dry day for most.

Britons are urged to stay indoors no matter what the weather brings to slow the spread of coronavirus, which has infected over 93,000 people in the UK and killed 12,107 people.
