UK weather: Flood warnings in Scotland as most Britons set for mild and cloudy day

It will be a mild, windy and mostly cloudy day for most across the UK on Tuesday, with some experiencing heavy rain in northwest Scotland today which will persist into the evening.

Temperatures will remain mild throughout the day after a cloudy start, with some areas seeing highs of 16 and 17 degrees, according to the Met Office.

At times, there will be some rain in the west, largely over the hills while most persistent in northwest Scotland.

The Met Office have issued a yellow warning for this northwest Scotland area, as the predicted heavy rain may cause flooding and disruption to travel.

Some Britons will see windy conditions which may make it seem less warm than the forecasted temperatures suggest, but the Met Office said Tuesday’s mildness is far above average for this time of year.

For Britons in the southern regions, it will be a much brighter and drier day compared to the wet weather observed over the weekend, according to the Met Office.

Meanwhile, though mostly dry in the east, heavy rain will spread over the west overnight leading to early rain on Wednesday morning for those in western England and Northern Ireland.

Though Britons in central and eastern England will wake up to a dry morning on Wednesday, the heavy rain in the west will soon spread eastwards throughout the day.

Brighter spells mean it will remain mild for some on Wednesday, despite the patches of rain.

The weather will gradually become colder over the week, resulting in a cooler weekend, with some sunny spells and showers on Saturday.
