Up to 50 people disembarked from an overcrowded London bus moments before a devastating explosion tore through it on 7 July 2005, the inquest into the terrorist attacks has heard.
Unaware of what was disrupting the transport network that morning, bus driver George Psaradakis made a diversion and then advised his passengers that they might be better off walking.
Between 30 and 50 disembarked. Giving evidence, Mr Psaradakis said: "Lots of people got off the bus... I pulled away slowly, at crawling speed... I tried to call my garage and then – bang. The explosion."
