Actress and campaigner Vanessa Redgrave has said "lives will be ruined" if travellers on the UK's largest illegal site are evicted next month.

Redgrave visited Dale Farm near Basildon, Essex, where more than 80 traveller families face eviction if they fail to leave by tonight. Notices were served on 52 unauthorised plots after a decade-long planning row.
