We will rebuild: Twitter reacts to the 4.2 magnitude earthquake in Kent

Many have woken up to find their cherished possessions in a slightly different position to how they were left when they went to bed

Twitter has reacted with mock horror to this morning’s earthquake in Kent. From a cracked patio slab to mantelpiece ornaments set askew, the south east of England is making efforts to rebuild.

In acts of stoicism across Twitter, users have posted images of the destruction wreaked by the quake, which measured 4.3 on the Richter scale, declaring that they will not be defeated by the forces of nature.

Fortunately for many, rebuilding has meant merely moving their possessions back upright from when they were knocked over during the night.

Kent Police were so inundated with reports from members of the public, they themselves took to Twitter to confirm that a quake had taken place. They also confirmed that they had not, so far, received any reports of injuries or damage.

To put things in perspective, the quake recording this morning was 260,000 times smaller than the 7.8 measured on the Richter scale when an earthquake struck Nepal in late April this year.

Nevertheless, we will rebuild.
