Woman judge Wendy Joseph appointed at the Old Bailey
The Old Bailey has its first female judge in four years following the appointment of Judge Wendy Joseph.
She replaces Judge Ann Goddard, who retired in March 2008 and later died.
Judge Joseph, 59, was a top criminal barrister before becoming a judge in 2007 and sitting at Snaresbrook Crown Court in east London.
She is the only female among the 17 resident judges at the Central Criminal Court.
