World's 50 best restaurants: Three UK eateries make the list as Italy’s Osteria Francescana takes top spot
The rankings provide 'an annual snapshot of the greatest gastronomic experiences across the globe'
Three UK eateries have made the annual list of the world's 50 best restaurants.
Italian restaurant Osteria Francescana took first place at The World's 50 Best Restaurants awards announced in New York.
The Clove Club, in London's Shoreditch, won the highest new entry award in the annual rankings, climbing 29 places to enter the top 50 at 26.
The highest placed UK restaurant was The Ledbury, in London's Notting Hill, which climbed six places to 14.
Heston Blumenthal's Dinner, within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Hyde Park, fell from 7th place to 45.
The list includes restaurants from 23 countries and intends to provide "an annual snapshot of the greatest gastronomic experiences across the globe".

The list is created from the votes of almost 1,000 international leaders in the restaurant community, made up of food writers and critics, chefs, restaurateurs and highly regarded "gastronomes".
Members list their choices in order of preference based on their best restaurant experiences over the previous 18 months.
