A FATHER of two was held hostage in his home by a man who jumped in through a window and held a piece of broken glass to his throat, police said yesterday.
The intruder smashed into the house in Sunderland by throwing himself through the front window on Saturday evening. Peter Dimmock, 32, his wife Margaret, 30, and their children aged four and 18 months, were all at home.
Police negotiated with the man for an hour before he collapsed. Last night, he was under police guard in hospital awaiting surgery for serious cuts.
