House prices slip

Property prices fell by 1.1 per cent in June, according to the Halifax house price index. The drop follows a fall of 1.2 per cent in May, and brings the reduction over the past year to 4.5 per cent. The figures contrast with the Nationwide Building Society, which reported a rise of 1.6 per cent in June and an annual fall of 3.5 per cent.
