The IRA admitted planting a bomb at a block of flats where Jim Prior, the former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, lives. The attack at Morpeth Mansions, near Victoria station in central London, was the 14th explosion in the capital since 7 October.

No one was hurt but a heavy mahogany door was blown out and windows shattered. Cars parked outside were also damaged.
