Jail appeal rejected
The 1960s gang leader Eddie Richardson, 57, failed in his appeal against a 25-year jail sentence for his part in a pounds 50m drug smuggling conspiracy. Lord Taylor, the Lord Chief Justice, said drugs were a menace and the plot could properly be classed as an 'abnormal' crime, justifying a sentence of more than 20 years.
