Judgment was reserved in the test case of Peggy Wood, 77, who is suing the Law Society for damages for alleged misconduct and failing to properly investigate complaints against her former solicitors. If she succeeds it will be the first time a regulatory body has been ruled to owe a duty of care to members of the public who suffer loss because of mishandling of complaints.
