Juror fined

A man who came up with a series of excuses in an attempt to avoid serving on a jury in a three-month trial at Winchester Crown Court was fined pounds 250 under the 1974 Juries Act. Judge Ian Starforth Hill told Raymond Dibbs, 18, of Farnborough, Hampshire, that jury service was 'not to be treated lightly'.
