HARRY ALLEN, Britain's last official hangman, has died in hospital aged 80. Mr Allen performed nearly 100 executions, including those of Derek Bentley and James Hanratty, and assisted at 100 others. He died in Rossall Hospital, Fleetwood, Lancashire, on Friday night.
