Barristers are to be subject to stricter monitoring of their performance under a new initiative announced this week by the Bar Council. Breaches of the Bar's code of conduct are referred to the council's professional conduct committee. In addition, there will also now be a system for identifying and correcting poor performance or conduct that falls short of breaching the code.
