A fixed-price service by barristers was launched this week in a pilot scheme. The so-called 'century brief' will give members of the public, through their solicitors, the chance to be represented by a barrister for pounds 100. The client will be entitled to representation at a hearing in a magistrates' court or at arbitrations in a county court, a conference with the barrister before the hearing, and, if appropriate, representation at one adjournment hearing.
