Measures passed by the Law Society council to give female law firm partners equal maternity rights to those guaranteed by legislation to employees have been welcomed by the Association of Women Solicitors. At its recent meeting, the council adopted amendments proposed by the association to a model anti- discrimination policy. The association's chairman, Amanda Royce, says: 'Many women are uneasy about discussion of their future plans for children when they become partners, as they feel any such talk will prejudice their chances of a partnership. Now everything is out in the open as it should be.'
