LAST week's item about Iain Jacobs, the Scottish solicitor attempting to re-qualify as a French lawyer, has brought a call from the Law Society of Scotland for the removal of the bureaucratic bars to his progress. The society's president, Brian Adair, has written to the batonnier (president) of the Conseil National des Barreaux 'as a colleague', urging him to consider Mr Jacobs as a special case.
