Letter: Dangerous tone in street of pub run

From Mr P. G. Hewitt

Sir: As I understand it, there were originally 16 pubs in Cambridge's King Street, not eight as John Windsor states. There was a race element: the aim to drink a gallon of beer - half a pint in each pub.

Now there are only five pubs in King Street. It may be of interest that the King Street Run was reorganised last year at the end of April using each of the five pubs three times over and one pub four times at half a pint in each to make the gallon. The winner completed the run in 14 and a half minutes.

Yours sincerely,

PETER G. HEWITT
