Mona Bauwens, friend of the former Secretary of State for National Heritage, David Mellor, settled her libel action against the People. There was no mention of damages. Six months ago, the trial of the case ended with a split jury. She had sued over articles calling her father the 'top paymaster' of the PLO. The newspaper said no criticism was intended.
