A drug addict strangled a man who switched off the power to his music system, Plymouth Crown Court was told. Brian Smith, 25, of Barnstaple, Devon, denies murdering 54-year-old Alexander Cook. His defence lawyer said it was accepted that Mr Smith killed Mr Cook, but maintained it was manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility. The trial continues today.
