Lord Ross of Newport, the former Liberal MP for the Isle of Wight, died after collapsing at a London hotel. Stephen Ross won the previously safe Tory seat of Isle of Wight in 1974 and held it until stepping down in 1987. In 1977 he piloted the Homeless Persons Act through Parliament.
