Police were questioning a 36-year-old man yesterday following the peaceful end to a four-day siege in which a mother-of-two was allegedly held at gunpoint.
Police confirmed, however, that no gun had been found at the house in Wigan, Greater Manchester, but a 10-inch knife had been recovered.
Armed police ended the siege when they forced their way into the house and freed 33-year-old Gillian Spencer. She was treated for shock.
