A MAN was jailed for six years yesterday for assaulting his baby son. Alexander McGinn, 27, subjected Grant Carruthers to a catalogue of abuse and violence between the ages of one and seven weeks, the High Court in Edinburgh was told.
McGinn, who admitted assaulting Grant, had been acquitted in the same court last February of the murder of another son, seven-week-old Sandy. The judge had said that the Crown had failed to show that only McGinn could have been responsible for Sandy's injuries.
McGinn also admitted attacking Grant's mother, Dawn Carruthers, and Elizabeth Doig, Sandy's mother.
