Man charged over attack on footballer
The former brother-in-law of Mickey Thomas, captain of Wrexham football club, was yesterday charged with attempting to murder him.
Geoffrey Thomas Dean, 32, of Rhyl, Clwyd, was remanded in custody for seven days by magistrates at Prestatyn. Police were last night questioning a second man in connection with the alleged offence.
Mr Dean, brother of Mr Thomas's former wife, was arrested after the 38-year-old former Welsh international was attacked while in his car with a woman in a lane at Waen, Clwyd, on Thursday night.
