One man died and another was seriously injured when they fell from a train at Twyford, Berkshire. A spokeswoman at Reading's Royal Berkshire Hospital last night said the injured man was 'stable' in the intensive care unit.

The two men were believed to have spent the day at Newbury races. British Rail said the train had been taken out of service for examination.
