Man set fire to pregnant wife

A husband who tied up his pregnant wife, doused her with petrol and then set light to her was yesterday jailed for 10 years.

Rumana Hoque, 20, of Forest Gate, east London, suffered severe burns to her arms, chest and shoulders, the Old Bailey was told. She rolled up in a rug to put out the fire.

Her husband of a year, Monjural Hoque, 27, a waiter, had tied her up and gagged her before flicking lighted matches at her. He had admitted causing grevious bodily harm in April last year.
