A man in his mid-20s was shot dead in a ground-floor flat in the Protestant Annadale district of south Belfast last night. Neighbours said three hooded gunman had tried to break in before firing. In another incident, a baby in a cot narrowly escaped injury when shots were fired from a passing car into a Catholic home in the north of the city.
