Man shot in INLA attack

The republican splinter group, the Irish National Liberation Army, said it shot and injured a young Protestant in Old Park Road, north Belfast. The man was shot in the back as he collected his girlfriend from work.

A soldier from the 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, was recovering in hospital after a bomb attack on a patrol in Twinbrook, west Belfast. He suffered shrapnel wounds and shock.
