CCTV video shows moment masked men with machetes raid Manchester shop

'No one should be in fear for their life while at their place of work'

A pair of masked men armed with machetes were caught on CCTV as they robbed a shop in Lowtown near Manchester.

Dressed entirely in black, the raiders can be seen running through the shop towards the till.

A member of staff was forced to stand and watch as one of them climbed over the counter and used the weapon to prise open the till.

The duo stole cash, tobacco and two bottles of vodka before fleeing the scene.

“No one should be in fear for their life while at their place of work and this is an incident which could have had really terrible consequences,” Greater Manchester Police Detective Constable Chris Waddicar said.

“These two men armed themselves with weapons to inflict fear and this in itself is appalling.”
