Black women with children face discrimination in mental health services, according to Diane Abbott, the Labour MP. She will tell a conference today, organised by the National Association for Mental Health (Mind), that black children are more likely to be taken into care. Their mothers are more likely to be diagnosed schizophrenic and often receive harsher treatment from the mental health system.
