Dogs of Heaven, a performance company, set up their show on the Hulme estate, Manchester, for Safe as Houses, an outdoor extravaganza on Saturday. The

four crescents that form the centrepiece of the Sixties council development were declared unfit for families three years after completion. Now they are due for demolition to clear the way for new housing, and the company - all volunteers from Hulme - took part in the celebrations.
