Protesters hung streamers and Christmas decorations on rolled barbed wire in a New Year's Day rally at a motorway construction site at Twyford Down, near Winchester, Hampshire. The site has been the scene of demonstrations in the past year by objectors to the building of the M3 in a cutting through the picturesque down.
