A policeman ran naked down a street after Kevin Stables, an oil worker, caught him in bed with his wife Anne, Newcastle Crown Court was told. DC Eric Coates fled after Stables traced the pair to a house at Hebburn, Tyne and Wear, broke in and hit him with a piece of wood. Stables, of Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, admitted aggravated burglary. He was given an 18-month suspended sentence and ordered to pay pounds 500 compensation.
