The National Rivers Authority and the Ministry of Agriculture blocked plans by Tony Wilkinson, a fish farmer of Hawkshurst, Kent, to charge anglers pounds 35 to fish for two giant Chinese carp. Catching the 74lb and 62lb fish would have broken the British record. The authorities said the fish were imported on an ornamental fish licence.
