A former porter at Buckingham Palace admitted stealing a pounds 350,000 painting from the Queen's collection. Southwark Crown Court was told that Duncan Gray, 22, of Hastings, East Sussex, took the painting by the 17th century Dutch artist Adriaen van Ostade in January. He also admitted stealing a rosebowl and some cutlery. The trial was adjourned until today.
