Patients will die because treatment is delayed by the workings of the NHS internal market, a heart specialist said yesterday. Duncan Dymond, a cardiologist at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, said in the Guardian that urgent cases were being turned away because some hospitals could afford only an emergency service until the new financial year.
