Unison, the public service union, accused NHS trusts of attaching hidden "strings" to 3 per cent pay deals for nurses and health workers that could lead to a cut in their earnings. These include, it says, trying to convert bank holidays, which are paid at premium rates, into annual leave entitlement, which would be equal to a to 5 per cent loss in pay.
