An off-duty policeman who maimed a schoolboy in a hit and run crash was fined pounds 3,800 and banned from driving for seven years. PC Anthony Metcalfe, 29, of West Derby, Liverpool, who had been drinking before the accident, admitted driving without due care and attention on 1 December last year; failing to stop after an accident and failing to report the accident as soon as possible.
