Pensioner jailed

Thomas Underhill, 70, of Fareham, Hampshire, was jailed for three days by magistrates at Eastleigh for failing to pay his pounds 295 poll tax. He said: 'I feel it is far better for someone like me, old and living alone, to make a stand than for young people with mortgages and families.'
