Police face trial

DETECTIVE Chief Superintendent Graham Melvin, who led the inquiry into the murder of PC Keith Blakelock during the 1985 Broadwater Farm riots, was committed to stand trial on charges of perjury and perverting the course of justice in the case of one of the three men accused of the murder, Winston Silcott. Det Insp Maxwell Dingle was committed on a conspiracy charge. Both were granted unconditional bail.
