Police officer stabbed

A policeman was stabbed at least seven times as he questioned two men about alleged stolen property in Deptford, south London. PC Martin Dudley underwent emergency surgery and was described last night as 'stable'.

In Garston, Liverpool, PC Robert Gill needed 40 stitches after being stabbed in the face with a screwdriver.
