Today the Supreme Court hears the appeal of Theresa May’s government to trigger Article 50 without parliamentary approval.

At the start of November, the High Court ruled that Parliament had the right to vote on launching the formal process of leaving the European Union.

The case was brought by Gina Miller, an investment fund manager and philanthropist, represented by Lord Pannick QC and supported by an array of ‘concerned citizens’.

After the landmark decision, the Prime Minister immediately appealed the decision to the Supreme Court.

Today 11 Supreme Court justices will begin hearing the appeal, with the Attorney General warning the judges no to ‘stray’ into areas of political judgement.
