Taoiseach Brian Cowen and British Prime Minister David Cameron are set to discuss economic issues and recent developments in Northern Ireland when they meet in London today.

The Downing Street talks mark the first formal meeting for the pair since Mr Cameron took office last month.

The Taoiseach and the Prime Minister - who spoke in the margins of the European Council in Brussels last week - are also expected to discuss future relations between Ireland and Britain.

Other topics on the agenda include financial matters, key issues for the European Union, and the G20 summit in Canada this weekend.

The meeting was arranged when the two men spoke by telephone after Mr Cameron took over from Gordon Brown on May 11.
