Labour MP Anne Moffat is recovering in hospital after a scan revealed bleeding near her brain. The East Lothian MP said yesterday that she hopes to be "fighting fit and back at work shortly".
A Labour spokesman said the MP had called an NHS telephone helpline last week because of a "very, very high temperature", and that a subsequent MRI scan at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (ERI) had found found traces of blood on her pituitary gland. She was therefore kept in for observation. He added that "She's doing fine now."
Ms Moffat thanked well-wishers and hospital staff: "I would like to thank all the staff at ERI for their brilliant care." She added that "As a former nurse, I really appreciate from this side of the fence how hard NHS staff work."
