Lord Justice Leveson made his own contribution to the ignoble history of judicial clangers yesterday.
David Cameron resumed his evidence to the press ethics inquiry after lunch by revealing that his wife, Samantha, had contacted him during the break to illuminate his woolly response to an earlier question about the frequency of his social contacts with Rebekah Brooks.
Lord Leveson responded to the evidence by saying, "The great value of wives, Prime Minister", a quip which is unlikely to win the judge many plaudits in feminist circles.
