The former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Geoffrey Howe has died aged 88 following a suspected heart attack.
Having held the ministerial roles of Chancellor and Foreign Secretary, the former Conservative MP resigned from the front bench in 1990 becoming a Life Peer shortly after.
His resignation speech, which was read out in the House of Commons is now widely regarded as a catalyst in the fall of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
