In an article headlined "New peers promise to work harder" (2 April) it was wrongly stated that Lord Dixon had a poor attendance record in the House of Lords and that he had neglected his duties for other activities. In fact, Lord Dixon has an exemplary attendance record of 92 per cent and voting record of 72 per cent, which does not include abstentions. Rather than missing the vote on the Section 28 amendment, as was claimed, he was in fact in attendance but abstained from voting. We apologise to Lord Dixon and his family for the distress caused by these errors.
